Dr. Laura King of Southern Methodist University conducted a personality test on 400 of her students. She asked them a simple question, "If you could have 3 wishes, what would you wish for?" The answers she got ranged from "to be happy and healthy" to "to have Marilyn Monroe as my girlfriend". But Dr. King discovered some interesting connections in the answers she got.
The most common wishes were for friends, happiness, health, marriage, money, success, and to help other people.
And although men's and women's wishes are generally similar, guys are more likely to wish for power and money - while women are more likely to wish for happiness, a better appearance, and better health.
Here's what else Dr. King found:
- Outgoing and extroverted people are the most likely to wish for good things for others.
- The people who wish to be happier, or for things in their life to 'go right', are likely to be more anxious and insecure.
