According to BBC News, a recent study says 30 percent of employees come up with their best ideas as they're about to nod off to sleep. The study's results recommend employers put two and two together and allow workers to take a mid-day snooze so they can recharge their mental batteries!
Psychology professor Dr. Richard Wiseman couldn't agree more. He says our dreams produce unusual combinations of ideas that can turn out to be amazingly creative solutions to problems. And, as far as the employer is concerned, napping can be seen as a natural, no-cost way to increase worker productivity. Sounds like a win-win situation to me!
And the Pittsburgh accounting firm Deloitte Consulting is already on the ball. It's designed a special nap-nasium for their employees. It has recliners and pulled blinds, and is open to any worker needing a rest! The company made Fortune Magazine's list of best 100 companies to work for last year, so maybe they're on to something.
Can I see a show of hands? Who'd like to at least give it a try??
